About the position

This Junior EMEA Customs Officer role is to ensure that global goods flows meet customs requirements and meet the needs of the business. Junior EMEA Customs Officer is responsible for troubleshooting and assisting companies with international shipments and customs issues. The role acts as a linking pin for the EMEA customs broker and Supply Chain Management team and supports the Global Compliance Manager with communication to customs authorities, primarily in the Netherlands and also the EMEA region. He/she will work closely with the Global Compliance Manager and the global planning team at our Client's Geleen headquarters.

The powerful product made is used for many applications from medical sutures to nets for commercial fishing.

Salary for this position will be determined based on your experience.

What you will do
  • Reporting to the Global Compliance Manager any (suspected) violations of applicable customs regulations
  • In the absence of the Global Compliance Manager, responsible for screening restricted parties
  • Support the Global Compliance Manager in conducting periodic audits of import/export brokers
  • Supporting the Global Compliance Manager in ensuring that paperwork for non-commercial shipments is complete and correct. Supporting applicants with the manual customs invoices and shipping instructions; for example, samples.
  • Support the Global Compliance Manager in ensuring customs compliance of (logistics) service providers in the Netherlands, including customs brokers and warehouses
  • Support the Global Compliance Manager with communication to customs authorities mainly in the Netherlands and also the EMEA region
  • Attend regular meetings with the Global Compliance Manager or other customs compliance functions to discuss current issues and possible future implications regarding (changing) customs regulations
  • Resolving shipping issues with internal stakeholders from e.g. Customer Service, Supply Chain Management and Global Compliance Manager etc., and external parties such as customs authorities, customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • General support to the global SCM team, preparation of monthly planning meetings, follow-up on improvement actions/initiatives
What we ask
  • Your level of education: Master's degree or Bachelor with strong and relevant experience in the field of customs, supply chain, logistics or other SCM-related fields
  • Discipline related knowledge and experience with SAP ERP system and/or SAP & Project Management
  • You have experience as a customs broker and/or logistics service provider
  • You are self-motivated and strong team player
  • You work well-structured and organized
  • You have very good networking and communication skills
  • Native Dutch language level is a requirement, as external communication will mainly take place with the Dutch government and/or Dutch customs brokers and forwarders, good command of the English language is incidentally a must
